Glass Reinforced Gypsum GRG Column Casings - Performance

Composition

The products are manufactured from alpha calcium sulphate semi-hydrate (plaster), glass fibre mat, softwood timber lathing at fixing points.

Methods of assembly and installation

Fixing of initial half using plaster wadding & second half mechanically fixed to first half. Requires wet trades to finish.

Shape

The standard range is circular column casings. Sizes are available in diameters from 200mm to 1200mm in 50mm intervals. Any bespoke shape possible, and additional detailing to circular casings is available.

Weight

GRG column casings are hand cast products. Weight and density do vary.

Surface

The finished surface of the columns is smooth ex-mould white plaster suitable to accept paint or any other finish made for an absorbent surface.

Structural

GRG column casings are not structural & is purely aesthetic

Fire

GRG Column casings have a Class O spread of flame. It can also be treated as a non-combustible building element. Structural elements need to be protected with a proprietary fire protection system.

Gaseous, liquid

Joints should not be considered air or watertight. Should not be emerged in water nor should it be subject to continuous water distress e.g. drip. If used in a high humidity area care should be taken to ensure that it is sealed by use of water-resistant paint. The material is absorbent of liquid. It is not recommended for external use or wet areas such as bathrooms or swimming pools.

Biological

Because the material is absorbent it can be susceptible to fungal growth if stored in a damp environment.
