Plywood Column Casing - Assembly
Assembly Feature Jointing
Where more than one component is used to produce a preformed plywood casing, Pendock use a variety of factory produced jointing methods to assemble the completed product.
To assist in the selection of the appropriate joint, each type is described in terms of it's functionality and aesthetic contribution.
J1 - Butt Joint
A conventional butt joint will obscure exposed plywood edges where two sections of material meet. A timber male and female joint is fixed to the rear faces to enable fixing.
J2 - UPVC Shadow Gap
A feature joint produced using a rigid black uPVC or aluminium extrusion which provides a 10mm relief gap between components and obscures exposed plywood edges.
The joint is factory assembled by bonding the extrusion to a timber male/female joint which is glued and stitched to the reverse of the product.
Widely used across all types of product and finish. Provides useful discreet fixing point where black fixing screws can be employed to secure product.
J3 - Aluminium Extrusion Decorative Insert
A feature joint produced using a aluminium extrusion. A retaining channel which accepts a decorative insert is fitted to a timber gusset and secured to the product.
Mechanical fixings can be located in the channel when installing products. The decorative insert can then be bonded into position. All fixings are then obscured and subsequent access can be maintained.
J4- Sealed Laminate Joint
Using high pressure laminate finishes it is possible to conceal joints between two components resulting in an uninterrupted finish to the installed product.
J5 - Laminated Feature Joint
A feature relief joint can be produced using complimentary or contrasting laminates bonded to the exposed edges of each component and lining the plywood gusset used in the assembly process. This joint is applicable to those products finished in laminate and real wood veneer.
